Abstract
In the context of accelerated technological transformations, the digitalisation of the economy, and ongoing changes in the labour market, lifelong learning is an essential factor for professional development and for strengthening professional resilience. This article aims to analyse the role of lifelong learning in developing and maintaining the skills required to adapt to the demands of a knowledge-, innovation-, and sustainability-driven economy.
The research is based on the analysis of specialised literature, international and European strategies, as well as conceptual frameworks regarding the relationship between lifelong learning, employability, and workforce resilience. The results indicate that participation in lifelong learning activities contributes significantly to the development of professional competencies, increases labour market mobility, and reduces vulnerability to economic and technological changes.
At the same time, lifelong learning promotes social inclusion and supports sustainable development objectives through the effective utilisation of human capital. The conclusions underline the need to integrate lifelong learning into educational, social, and employment policies as a strategic tool for developing human capital and ensuring an inclusive, competitive, and sustainable labour market. The conceptual frameworks and arguments presented may serve as a basis for developing policies aimed at strengthening sustainable employability in the context of contemporary societal challenges.
