Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming one of the most influential and rapidly developing technologies of the twenty-first century, with the ability to transform all areas of human activity. Education is one of the areas with the highest potential for integrating AI. Generative AI tools have significantly boosted this process, making it irreversible and prompting universities to reconsider their pedagogical approaches, institutional strategies, and academic governance. The use of AI in education offers not only multiple opportunities but also challenges and risks that may have a strong impact on society. Given the situation, it becomes fundamental to examine the impact of AI on education, along with identifying the strategic directions required for the adaptation of educational institutions to new technological realities. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the implications of artificial intelligence for higher education and to develop a conceptual model for the transformation of universities in the age of AI. A complex methodology was adopted to carry out the study, which included methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, and conceptual modeling. The proposed model contributes to a more thorough understanding of how universities can strengthen their resilience, competitiveness, and societal relevance in the era of digitalization and AI.
