Abstract

Since the construction industry is one of the largest consumers of natural resources and produces a significant amount of CO2, implementing sustainable practices is crucial to reducing environmental impact and meeting global sustainability objectives. Despite the availability of green materials and technology, many construction companies have not been able to widely use these practices. Understanding the causes of the discrepancy between what is known and what is applied is essential to facilitating the transition to more sustainable construction practices. Adoption of sustainable methods is hampered by a number of variables, including organizational, social, technological, and legal ones in addition to economic ones. This complexity makes the research topic extremely relevant, providing the opportunity to explore integrated solutions that take into account the multiple dimensions of the problem. Based on a better knowledge of the challenges that firms have while implementing these methods, this study can help shape more successful public policies. Meanwhile, through this research, it is desired to increase the awareness of industry actors on the importance and long-term benefits of sustainable constructions.
